It was Raddlebarn Primary School's Centenary year in 2005 and they had an ornamental gate installed on the 18th October 2005 for the children to access the park more safely. Part of the construction took place in the play ground and some of the pupils designed and made the pictures within the panels themselves. The artist Jon Mills spent a week at school working with the children. The BBC wrote an article featuring some of the children's work.

The Friends of Raddlebarn funded this project from grants, donations and internal fundraising.

Chris Rance and the rest of the playground planning group have been working on this project for almost 3 years but the installation took just one day.

The gates were officially open by the Mayor on 9th of January 2006, the last day of their Centenary Year. All the children from Nursery to Year 6 walked through the gate for the first time. The event was attended by parents, old pupils, local councillors, members of the Muntz Family, the Assistant Director of Parks and Events, our Ranger and Parks Manager.





Trees & Bulbs
We worked with Raddlebarn School and our local ranger to plant trees and bulbs on either side of this new gate. The children planted naturalised daffodil bulbs around the new trees. The trees planted are Wild Cherry and Rowan (Mountain Ash) which are native and both have white blossom and berries.

New Bird Boxes
Year 5 made bird boxes in school to be put up in the park. They worked really hard and are very proud of themselves. The timber was donated by Selco Trade centre in Stirchley.
